They have arrived!!
I am SO happy and SO proud! My Terra Sigillata set is just BEAUTIFUL!
Sono senza parole... can't express it sufficiently in English, Latin, or Italian!
Thank you so very much for sharing your artistry with an "old soul" who appreciates it for its lovely form, and its perfect replication of the ancient style!
Lots more !!!!!'s!

...I was very impressed by the aryballoi and the alabastron.  I particularly love the Caledonian hunt and the satyr, in fact I use the satyr aryballos to hold my shaving oil (a mix of olive and cedar essential oils).  And I love the (Heracles) kylix, I've used it many times.

Salve Iulia! The pottery absolutely, positively got here on time (10 minutes to spare) and all went well. This is going to be one of my favorite units, although there's NO WAY I'm letting the students handle that lamp! Thanks so much!

Dear Julia,
Thanks so much for the beautiful work and the superb packing. The mastos cup is, I think, a masterpiece. After next weekend, you'll have photos of it in action, I promise. The hoplite canteen and cup and unguent jars are all lovely, and the cook pot is--well, splendid may be too weak.

My only disappointment is no one's fault but my own. I thought that I'd ordered a Lesbian Wine amphora. You priced it for me--I apparently forgot to say "yes." Yikes.

At any rate, colour me absolutely satisfied, delighted, and impressed.

Just thought I would let you know that I was able to pick up the amphora today. It is in perfect condition and looks absolutely GREAT! The amphora is the centerpiece of my living area (and) I am very happy with it. You do excellent work. It was worth every penny.

Hi Julia,
I just wanted to let you know the items arrived last week (well, we picked them up last week) and they look great. Dan, my husband, has already been drinking out of the kylix and lit the lamp and is very pleased.
We will definately be ordering from you again in the future, thank you.

In this day and age, you often get what the store sells you and nothing more.
Even good customer service usually means that someone just pays attention to you
and nothing more. So when you find someone that not only listens, but will work
with you, and understands your passions, it's a treat.

I cannot say enough thanks to Julia for the lovely pieces that she made, including
the custom plate and kylix. From start to finish it was a collaborative project,
and I got to know a good person in the process. Knowing that her hands helped to
create something special for me made it all the more wonderful.

Even when there was a problem with damage to a piece during shipment, the matter
was fixed promptly and without a problem. If only life were always so good!

Thank you again Julia. I can say that many who have seen the pieces are already
blown away and impressed by them, and I'm extremely pleased to have them.

(John ordered several pieces, among them a Greek kylix with Dionysos on the inside, a Dokana Plate, a Greek Shield Plate as well as a Corinthian reproduction oil lamp.)

I plan on placing another order in a couple of weeks.

Goddess Greetings Julia
I brought the cup in it's packaging to the location of the rite. When I opened it I was moved to tears and deeply touched by how beautiful it is. The cup is truly infused with The Goddess and She embodies the energy of the Divine Feminine in such a powerful and palpable way. Words can not express Her Magic and Yours! One of the Iseum members fell in love with it too. Don't be surprised if you hear from her. Many blessings, love and gratitude...Nancy

Hi Julia,
Item rec'd in good shape(Roman Cookpot Style D)  and I'm pleased with it. Examining the wire mesh (BTW, your husband did a good job on the tricky wiring), I feel that the wire compresses the walls of the pot and thus helps resist the forces that try to push it apart. I'll have to get another without the mesh in the future for looks sake. Thank you!

Last summer, I asked Julia to help me with a Greek canteen and drinking cup. All she had to work with was a couple of mediocre photographs I was able to get from Osprey's "The Greek Hoplite" and "The Spartan Army".

Not only was she great to work with, her prices were amazing for the amount of work I know she put into the items and the end result was stunning to say the least.

Ive done a fair amount of work with people who do custom work, and I will definatly say she is by far one of the best out there.

I just received my canteen with net carrier from Venetian Cat. I had seriously been considering the Deepeeka canteen, but procrastinated because I wasn't sure if I wanted it, and I thought that there had to be something authentic and better out there. I was right. Julia, I really like my Terra Sigillata canteen. After I prep it in water, I'll dress it a little with some bead work. It really is "too cool." You'll be getting more business from me in the future. I'm taking it to Roman Days. Thanks again.

I too must report my delight with my latest order. When the "camel train" dropped off the box yesterday I was quite excited (and a tad apprehensive, as a corner of the box was crushed. But Julia's a superb packer as well as potter: all the pieces arrived in perfect shape, and now my only concern is finding an adequate way to display it all.

Terra Sigillata's always a tactile pleasure: the surface feels almost alive and, on a hot day, keeps a cup of wine nice and cool.

There are many aspects of reenactment that lend the feeling of "being there" in ancient Rome; dining on period pottery is one of the greatest pleasures.

Gratias, Julia!

I just received my water canteen and ungent jar having taken advantage of the special offer. What superb pieces, but better than that Julia is a fantastic person to deal with (I even got a refund on excess postage charges). I thoroughly recommend Venetian Cat - you will not be disappointed.

I used my canteen in Rome in April, worked fine, even though I chipped the spout on its previous outing! and it sits well withoutmuch worry of damage, even on a 10k + march. (the damage was when I took it out of the car and it slipped.... )

This is a long-term review of Julia's wares. I purchased an Augustan plate, bowl and cup as a set about four years ago and have used them regularly ever since.

The pottery has travelled with me to encampments and dinners. I used to transport it in bubble wrap, but hated the anachronism, so nowadays they're cushioned with a napkin or two. They've held up remarkably well.

I also have a set of silver cochlear spoons that I use with the pottery, and they've imparted nice wear marks on the plate and bowl.

Care of unsealed pottery takes a little getting used to: one other reason I abandoned the bubble wrap was that the dishware tended to grow moldy if I wrapped it up in plastic after washing the pieces! I've learned to air dry the pieces thoroughly after washing, either by setting them out in a sunny spot or by placing them on a rack in a warm over. The pieces definitely need to breathe!

I have had repeated compliments on Julia's fine workmanship, and people love to handle the pieces. The burnished surface feels like a living thing, and is often faintly warm to the touch.

I absolutely love my terra sigillata dishware, and am buying another set for insurance, lest I break mine. It is such a pleasure to re-create ancient recipes and consume them off the same type of pottery that the Romans themselves so highly prized.

Today, I received one of Julia's wonderful products, RM 1015, the Water Vessel for Soldier's Kit. I took advantage of her enticing sale, and can not be happier. Clearly, when my optio is driving me on yet another forced march, I don't have to worry about dehydration.

Should I mention the service is fast and efficient? Okay, it is.

Again, thank you Julia.

Hi Julia! The canteen was retrieved, intact, and it is really a great piece of work!
Sorry I took so long to post this, but i have been on the road since I picked it up, and have just arrived home again last night. The only pity is I am going to have to cover it up in a sheep skin cover to make sure it doesn't get broken! Once I have primed it, that is. I showed it off to the guys at training, and they were pretty impressed i think!

My netted canteen and mini garum amphora arrived yesterday, and I just wanted to say thanks to IVLIA for the great items, and the diligent after sales service. Both are dangling from my furca right now.

Highly recommended.

I was also very pleasantly surprised at how light the canteen is!

To whom it may concern,

I received my most recent order from Venetian Cat Pottery in the post today. It was quickly produced. Well made. And extremely beautiful workmanship. As always I get the feel that it is an ancient artifact that I am handling whenever I work with Julia's creations. She really is a great craftsperson to deal with and I look forward to figuring out the next item I will be buying from her in the future.
